Following our Student Leader’s Awards and Appreciation Night, is another Student Life event catered to student leaders as well! Camp EQuip, a training camp developed by our staff to nurture and equip various club leaders with different frameworks and skills to aid in their duties, has finally had its first face to face camp in a while.

This year’s camp started out on campus, with students engaging in an orientation and introduction to the goals of the camp. In the afternoon of the first day, we then moved on over to Changi Cove where they could more effectively focus their attention on the curriculum set out for them. A major focus for this iteration of Camp EQuip was imparting an understanding of system leadership. This is a framework meant to help leaders approach problems with in a systematic manner. From the four-player model to levels of perspective, such models will hopefully prove helpful when our leaders put the to practice in the course of their duties.

However, this isn’t to say that the camp was all work and no play; otherwise student life here wouldn’t exactly be too ‘lively’! We kept the energy up and flowing as different camp groups took turns in handling energising mini-games; also providing a valuable platform to train their public speaking and presentation skills. We also had presentations and a mascot competition at night where our participants dressed up their fellow students to be potential mascots for Student Life.

All in all, Camp EQuip was a stellar and rousing success. It was an impressive sight to have all of our student leaders coming together and enthusiastically taking part in our programme after a long drought of face to face events such as this. Thanks to everyone involved, and we hope to have more of our student body join next year’s Camp EQuip!
