Course structure:

The analysts training programme comprises 3+1 parts. Each part of the series is to be registered as a stand-alone course. However completion of the series must be in sequence, with each prior Part a pre-requisite to the next. For example, Part 1 must be completed before a student can attend Part 2; and so on. Students may stop at just Part 1 or Part 2, if they do not wish to continue.

Each of Parts 1 to 3 is made up of 5 full days of 7-hour lecture, discussions and group exercises. Day 6 is set apart for the presentation of reports.

The Plus (Onboarding Analyst Role) comprises 8 days of 7-hour work simulation, which is application of what is acquired in Parts 1 to 3.

Part 1:  Industry Analysts Programme  (IAP)

The Industry Analysts Programme is to prepare students for a position that requires them to study and analyse industries. Upon successful completion of the training, they will be able to systematically conduct an industry analysis and prepare an effective report for the purpose for which it is being done. The knowledge and skills that they will acquire will give them an edge in their job search, especially if they are planning for a career as an Industry Analyst.

As a requirement for the successful completion of the course, students must prepare a comprehensive report on an assigned industry and to present their findings a few days after the five-day course.

Part 2:  Credit Analysts Programme  (CAP)

The CAP is to prepare students for a position that requires them to read, analyse and assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers. Students will learn how to read and analyse the financial stability of potential borrowers and be able to prepare a comprehensive credit report. This course prepares students to study and analyse the financial state of a company in order to make sound financial and business decisions.

As a requirement of the course, students must prepare a credit report of a listed company and be able to present their analysis a few days after the five-day course.

Part 3:  Project & Equity Investment Analysts Programme  (PEIAP)

The PEIAP prepares students for an investment analyst career by learning to evaluate the financial viability of project investment proposals and be able to rank them accordingly. Students will also learn to appraise the investment attractiveness of the individual equities and structure them into an ideal equity portfolio. This hands-on course provides students with an insight into the working world of project investments and financing, investment banking, equity research and investments; as well as portfolio management, M&A, MBO, LBO, private equity and venture capital.

As a requirement of the course, students must prepare an equity report of a listed company and be able to present their analysis a few days after the five-day course.

Plus: Onboarding Analyst Role

This is the final part (optional) of the complete Analyst Training, students must complete Parts 1 to 3 to be eligible.

Students will put their knowledge to use with practical experience and work for 8 days as Economic/Industry/Financial Analyst/Research Officer. The supervisor will assign work and coach students on the job. Students will be required to prepare and pitch their Economic report.

Students will also be required to perform Morning Briefs on the economy and financial markets, as well as industry updates; and be coached to review and analyse daily, quarterly financial reviews on assigned companies.
