CFA Institute Research Challenge seeks to nurture teams of undergraduates and/or graduate through practical training equity research.

Important dates to note for the internal selection process –

SIM Internal Selection Round

• Registration closing date (SIM) – 31 Oct 2022, 2300
• Submission of report & the selection of finalist teams (SIM) – 24 Nov 2022, 2359
• Announcement of teams (SIM) – 19 Dec 2022
• Final selection of SIM-CFA representative team (presentation round) – *26-29 Dec 2022

*Dates subjected to minor changes due to assessors availability

What to expect:

• Research and analyse a designated company
• Prepare a business report
• Guidance from faculty advisers and industry mentor
• Present and defend findings to industry experts

With the first round of the CFA having come to a close, we’d like to express our gratitude to the teams who’ve taken up this year’s challenge and given their all for their respective reports. This is no easy endeavour, with each entry impressing our board of assessors, making it a challenge to consider and deliberate over which teams will receive the honour of representing our institution.

From the ensemble of strong entrants, however, 6 have been slated to continue on the CFA journey as finalists for SIM’s internal round of selection. These teams are as follows:

However, regardless of the results, we applaud each and every one of our teams for taking the leap and putting their best foot forward in this competition. For those whose road ends here, we hope to see you take another try next year. And for the rest, we wish them all the best as they polish their reports up for the next stage of the competition!

Update: White Knights, our representative team for the local CFA round, went head to head against the other universities’ teams in February 2022. While they did not manage to place, we applaud their stellar performance and all the effort they’ve put in to their cases and this challenge as a whole. Thank you White Knights for doing SIM proud!
